Do I need riding experience, and is this safe for beginners? You do not need previous horseback riding experience, and many of our guests have never been on a horse before. Our guides will match your horse to your particular riding ability, experience, and physical requirements; please fill out the Rider Information Sheet to help us in this regard. We will make every effort to ride to the ability of each guest, and to ride at your pace. Our rides are perfect for people of all ages and horseback riding abilities. All rides are led and supervised by friendly, experienced trail guides who will monitor each rider throughout the tour, placing a strong emphasis on your safety. Despite all of this, please keep in mind that you are riding at your own risk.

I already know how to ride, so will I get to gallop during my tour? Practically all of our tours have areas that allow you to gallop if you are comfortable doing so and if our guides feel it is appropriate once they have observed you. We simply ask that you ride responsibly, be considerate and aware of your and your horse’s limitations, and follow the instructions given to you by your tour guide.

How many people will be on my tour? Although we can accommodate large parties, we make every effort to keep our group sizes down to six or less, and have an average ratio of one guide for every three riders. If you have a large group, please notify us ahead of time so that we can make the necessary arrangements.

Will I be riding on the beach? Our beach rides are beautiful, romantic, fun, and unforgettable. Because of time constraints, not all tours go on the beach. Please visit our Rides and Rates page to find out which tours take you on the beach, or ask us to customize a tour to fit your group’s needs.

What should I wear? Jeans or pants are best, but shorts are ok in a pinch. If you wear shorts, please bring a towel to protect your legs from chafing. For your safety and comfort we strongly prefer that you not wear flip-flops or sandals, and recommend sneakers or sturdy footwear.

What should I bring with me? Less is best, but don’t forget your camera, film, memory cards, and fresh batteries! Bring a hat or cap and apply sunscreen, as even on cloudy days you can get sunburn. There are usually convenient locations to stop and get a bottle of water, so there is no need to bring one with you.

When should I arrive for my horseback riding adventure? We strongly suggest you arrive at the ranch at least 30 minutes prior to your scheduled tour departure time. This will allow enough time to get you acquainted with your horse, and for our staff to go over some instructions.

Will my guide speak English? All tours are conducted by knowledgeable, friendly, multi-lingual guides. If you require a guide that speaks a language other than English or Spanish, please notify us in advance and we will make every effort to accommodate you.

Are your horses available for photo shoots or wedding portraits? Yes! Please contact us for information on renting our horses for photography or video sessions.

Are children allowed on your excursions? Absolutely! We have horses that are great for kids, as well as saddles and other gear made just for them. And although we do not have a minimum age requirement, for their safety children under 8 years of age must have previous riding experience in order to ride alone. Otherwise, children under 8 may ride at no charge when sharing a horse with a parent or guardian, and we have special “buddy seats” to accommodate them. For the safety and comfort of the riders and the wellbeing of our horses, children 8 or older must ride on their own horse.

What if I need to cancel my reservation? See our Rates and Rides page for our cancellation policy.
